The New York Post Online Edition seeks a programmer with at least 3-5
years experience to join our day staff in the Midtown New York City
offices. We are looking for a responsible, self-directed individual with
an enthusiasm for open source software technologies and demonstrated
experience with them in an online environment.
Job specifications:
* This is a permanent, full-time, onsite position. Please no freelance
inquires and no placement services!
* Each candidate will be required to demonstrate mastery of the skills
listed below during the interview process.
* This position requires candidate to have excellent writing and
communication skills
* Candidate must be able to work on several projects at a time
* This position reports to the Manager of Web-Based Operations.
* Salary negotiable
* Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Skill set includes:
* Familiarity with HTML, CSS, Javascript and web design technologies
* 3-5 years experience with PHP
* 1-2 years experience with Perl
* 3-5 years experience with open source databases and database
programming (experience with database planning and architecture a plus,
experience with PostgreSQL also a plus)
* 5 years experience with Linux or BSD operating systems
* ASP a plus
Responsibilities:
* Work with online team to maintain and develop various online projects,
including the creation and automation of reports, new dynamic sections
of the website, e-commerce projects, and content management processes.
* Assist Manager in maintenance and development of production database
and web servers
* Maintain and develop website staging environment
* Perform website Q/A and apply fixes as needed
