NEW YORK POST - Jr. Web Programmer - Part-time

Company information: The New York Post is a mass circulation newspaper 
in tabloid format that has enjoyed unprecedented circulation growth 
making it America's fastest growing newspaper. Also America's oldest 
continuously published daily newspaper, The Post recently celebrated its 
200th anniversary since Alexander Hamilton founded it. Home of such 
powerful brands like PageSix, and The Best Sports in Town, the Post is 
one of the top New York newspapers for news, sports, entertainment and 
much more. The Post is part of the News Corporation family.

Position: The New York Post Online Edition seeks a part-time permanent 
web programmer to join our day staff in the Midtown New York City 
offices. We are looking for a responsible, self-directed individual with 
an enthusiam for open source software technologies and a desire to learn 
more about their application in a high-traffic, high availability web 
environment.

Job specifications:

     * This is a freelance position with a maximum of 20 hrs/week. 
Prefer 5 hrs a day, 4 days a week during 9am - 5pm
     * Must work at 1211 Avenue of the Americas location

Skill set includes:

     * Basic familiarity with HTML, CSS, web design technologies
     * Beginning or intermediate PHP
     * Beginning or intermediate familiarity with SQL
     * experience with Linux, FreeBSD and/or Solaris platforms
     * Perl a plus
     * Apache a plus

Responsibilities:

Programming/Maintenance

     * Assist in programming various projects under the direction of the 
Manager
     * Monitor feeds from outside vendors and partners as applicable
     * Perform website Q/A and apply fixes as needed
     * Perform minor systems administration tasks
     * Perform light database administration tasks

Reporting

     * Run monthly reports i.e. pageviews, opt-ins
     * Run weekly reports i.e. store sales

Promotions

     * Work with Promotions to set up online sweepstakes and results
     * Manage user data collected via promotions and contests
