About Pod1, Inc – New York

Located in the heart of SOHO, Pod1 New York’s primary sector is fashion e-commerce. Our mantra is “Better Online Business”. We are in business of making e-commerce operations more profitable by creating a better experience through putting the customer at the centre of our universe, and using creativity and technology to deliver engaging, interactive and eminently “buyable” content. We are currently 12 people strong and are looking to work with people that have a proven record of solving problems in user experience, interactive design and web development.

Pod1, Inc is looking for a skilled junior PHP developer. This position involves being a part of the design process, troubleshooting existing issues, implementing new features and extending core functionality of other technologies and platforms, like Magento and WordPress. You’ll be working along with visual designers, interactive designers and other software engineers. 


Required
	
•	1+ years experience working with PHP5.x and MySQL
•	Comfortable working and learning within MVC frameworks and CMS platforms (Drupal, Joomla, Wordpress, Symfony, Zend, etc)
•	Willing to develop and debug applications in a Unix/Linux environment
•	Experience with AJAX techniques using modern JavaScript libraries
•	Knowledge of source control software
•	Comfortable documenting code
* 	Knowledge of object oriented programming concepts 
•	Comfortable working closely with a UX/IA team 
•	Basic Knowledge of SEO best practices
•	Effective verbal and written communication skills 
•	Must be available to work on site. 


Preferred
•	Experience with the Magento Platform 
•	Some familiarity of usability and W3C AAA accessibility standards
•	Capable of debugging a web application from hardware to client browser
•	Interactive web agency experience


As a Junior PHP Developer at Pod1, Inc, your role and responsibilities will consist of:

•	Designing, developing, implementing and maintaining web software applications under the direction of senior technical staff	
•	Debugging and troubleshooting software defects
•	Creating and maintaining code documentation
•	Participating in the review of business requirements and functional specifications providing analysis and feedback
•	Delivering software code that is built to scope and within the agreed upon goals
•	Working as a team member on large accounts, understanding how a team operates and what is expected of the various roles on the project
•	Shifting between a creative and a technical focus depending on the project need and/or the type of project
•	Producing interim deliverables (such as prototypes, proofs of concept, etc.) in addition to the final live site or application.
•	Providing day-to-day support, troubleshooting and bug fixing for our existing clients (BAU)
•	Reporting to project managers any risks or possible delays 
•	Taking initiative to research and learn emerging technologies
