I put in version 4 and we used it about 6 months. I used a lot of it's functionality and it worked great EXCEPT for email! Email capabilites in the system was the reason we stopped using it. It just didn't work well, with way to many problems to list. That said, they made a big effort to solve this in version 5 because everyone complained to much. . I have not used version 5, but would recommend setting up a small pilot and test the functions you need before totally committing to it. That's the only way you'll know. Excellent! IMNSHO we should have either a jobs board or better yet a "resources available" directory on the website, so folks can add themselves as available candidates. I'm using a variable template (like beez), and I need to change the color of the h2 and h3 tags, but I can't find it in the css. The template is Universatil off the Joomla24.com website. Found it. It's not accessible through the css editor in the administrator interface. There's a subdirectory (folder) below the css directory called switcher_css. There are several css files in there. Had to find the one for the color scheme I needed to change among those. It was having issues serving up pages after logging in. I had installed community builder. Anyway, because of the error message I got, I thought it would be a good idea to to change the table prefix field in the configuration page. Of course I neglected to heed, or even notice the exclamation pointed warning triange thingy . I thought that at worst that all I would have to do to change things back was to edit the configuration.php file. That doesn't seem to be fixing the problem. Is there a field in the database that I have to change to fix this problem? Can't seem to find it. ========= I have another site I'm working on that seems to have a problem with the template css and joomla's sef. When I turn on sef, the css holds up at the section level but breaks at the category level. Doesn't seem to matter whether I put in a livesite value or not. This template is universatil, which has that second css directory. Don't know what happens when I switch to a simpler template. Is it possible that the order of directives in the .htaccess file can affect this? Any other ideas about how to fix this? I'll need to go to sef with this site. =========== Thanks, Mark From dan at muchospanish.com Thu Feb 19 13:37:25 2009 From: dan at muchospanish.com (Dan) Date: Thu, 19 Feb 2009 13:37:25 -0500 Subject: [joomla] Joomla 1.0.x questions In-Reply-To: <1235067936.6519.27.camel@jersey> References: <1235067936.6519.27.camel@jersey> Message-ID: Hi, everyone I'm using 1.0.x. How important is it to upgrade to Joomla 1. 5? 1.0 is slated for EOL (End Of Life) in a few months. Or you can uninstall php4 and install php5 or migrate to a new server and test each site one by one to make sure it works.. I had some issues with a php4 script running on php5 becaus ethe script was poorly done. It interpreted a VAR as a function. To distinguish a script as PHP 5, simply name the script with the file extension .php5. Please note that in contrast to PHP 4, the default for the variable RegisterGlobals and allow_url_fopen is "off". By default Apache uses PHP 4 for .php extension. If you don't want to rename all your scripts to .php5 you can do the following: Create a .htaccess file and place the following line AddType x-mapp-php5 .php in it. This will tell Apache to use PHP 5 instead of PHP 4 for the extension .php in the directory the .htaccess is placed and all sub-directories under it. Hopefully that will help you too.
