I agree on the choice of FreeBSD, if only because that's what I'm most
comfortable with. But there are two things that make me consider Linux:

  1) Brand recognition among the non-technocentric
  2) mount.davfs == nfs for the masses

I'm sure both can be overcome. I'm happy to discuss point 2 at length
with the BSD folk. :-)
