Creating views is not outside user activity:
Create_view_priv has been available since MySQL 5.0.1.
Originally Allen asked am I just reinventing
the wheel.
I would say he is not *just* reinventing views --
this approach could be quite valuable to
people with a dbms that doesn't implement views.
The tree he described is reminiscent of a syntax tree.
So, taking a look at:

might spark some ideas.
