I agree with Chris - it's really primarily about rent. Commuting is
cheap, there are large groceries in both Queens and Brooklyn that'll let
you get reasonable deals on food and supplies (I love CostCo!). If,
after rent, you can support yourself where you are now, you should be
able to do it in Queens as well. That salary seems tight to me, but if
you're far enough out in Queens it's definitely doable.

Chris,
I appreciate your feedback, i doubt we would drive that often,
maybe the family would take the car out for the day and go to ellis
island, yada yada. The normal touristy things until they were there for
a while :D
so do you think that salary would work for my family? I would
be the only one working as she is pregnant and with 2 kids and one on
the way daycare would probably cost more than she would get from
working.
