[nycphp-talk] calculating state taxes?

Thank you.  The current state I'm dealing with is New Jersey.

The next state will be New York, but since it's local fast food service I
think that's a fairly clear cut situation.

Maybe it depends on the state, but here is how it works in New Jersey.  If
you have a store in NJ, and ship something to an address within NJ, you
must collect sales tax from the customer.  If you ship it out of state,
you don't  collect tax.  (Otherwise you would go crazy trying to figure
out how mush to collect.)  And then you periodically remit the collected
sales tax to the state of NJ.
