Qt is C++, for the mainstream platforms (plus mobile), should deploy as
easily for any of those (for the kind of project you mentioned).
It's also the kind of stuff KDE is built upon and lately some of nokia's
stuff.

But yeah, why not a web app?
I guess people still feel "real", desktop apps are better.
